Job description

Our client is a respected infrastructure services provider, they are currently looking to recruit for a Tender Bid Manager located in London.  

As Tender Bid Manager, you play a crucial role at the forefront of securing exciting opportunities for the company. Their current focus is in the water industry, specifically the “AMP8” procurement period, but you will have the chance to work across a wider spectrum of opportunities. This role requires a skilled professional to oversee the end-to-end tender process, ensuring the submission of high-quality bids that align with the clients’ needs and uphold their commitment to excellence. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate expertise in using a variety of bid templates, programmes and approaches.  

 

Key Responsibilities:  

Growth Strategy:  

- Identify and thoroughly understand suitable opportunities to contribute to the overall growth strategy of the business.  

Tender Management:  

- Lead the entire tender process, from identification to submission, ensuring adherence to deadlines, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather pertinent information and drive bid compliance.  

- Maintain a register of bid clarifications issued and received.  

- Promote continual improvement in bid presentation and submission by incorporating feedback and lessons learnt from tender awards and unsuccessful bids.  

Proposal Development:  

- Develop a bid strategy and win plan for each opportunity. Produce a bid programme and responsibility matrix.  

- Contribute to, prepare and edit submissions.  

- Coordinate with subject matter experts to produce technically sound and commercially viable proposals that showcase their innovative solutions.  

- Prepare and deliver Tender Presentations to the client.  

Risk Assessment:  

- Conduct thorough risk assessments for potential projects, proposing effective mitigation strategies.  

- Ensure bid compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.  

Client Relationship:  

- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.  

- Understand client needs, regulatory requirements and tailor proposals to address these and specific project requirements.  

Bid Budgeting:  

- Ensure bids are financially sound and aligned with their profitability objectives.

Requirements

- Highly effective oral communication and technical writing skills  

- A strong command of spoken and written English  

- Enthusiastic and energetic with an excellent professional demeanour  

- Solid business acumen with a good commercial grasp  

- Self-motivated with ability to prioritise own workload  

- Natural leader with the ability to galvanise others  

- Good time management, able to work to tight deadlines in high pressured situations  

- Excellent attention to detail and meticulous  

- Highly organised with a logical and planned approach  

- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously  

- Can-do attitude and willingness to see a job through to the end  

- Effective knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products  

 

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:  

- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field  

- Proven experience in bid management within the utilities or construction industry  

- Demonstrated success in leading and winning bids for multi-million pound utility term framework contracts  

- In-depth understanding of the utilities sector, including knowledge of regulations, standards, and best practices
