Job description

Our client, a blue chip contractor within Construction, Rail, Water and Infrastructure are looking for an Estimator to join their team in Hybrid - Site, Home and Bromsgrove Office.  

 

Main Tasks:  

- Analyse and interpret information including appraisal of scheme requirements in terms of construction methods, programme and management  

- Identify potential risks/benefits  

- Liaise as appropriate with the Design / Delivery team  

- Identify additional information required  

- Identify possible alternative methods and products (as applicable)  

- Identify subcontract/product packages, choose suppliers from database/framework list, liaise with supply chain, prepare enquiries and analyse responses  

- Attend site visits as required  

- Compile a comprehensive net cost estimate for the works, including preliminary items  

- Prepare and present net cost estimate for internal adjudication  

- Timely submission of tender, ensuring that the Clients requirements and specifications are met in full  

- Follow up submitted tenders.  

- Give others an overview of the scheme, highlighting any job specific risks / benefits  

- Contribute to discussion on commercial approach  

- Convert estimates to tender  

- Develop/produce basic/high level MS Project tender programmes as required  

- Develop/produce Manpower histograms as required  

- Distribute any available feedback to the team  

- Keep all administration systems and processes up to date  

- Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role  

- Comply with Company rules, policies and procedures at all times  

- Carry out any other reasonable tasks which may be required from time to time and to enable the company to remain adaptable to changing markets and needs

Requirements

Skills & Knowledge:  

- Significant experience of Civil and MEICA contracting in the Construction industry and/or significant experience in the water industry  

- A relevant academic or vocational qualification (e.g. NVQ3 up to Degree level)  

- Good commercial judgement  

- Ability to quickly digest tender information  

- Ability to adhere to strict deadlines  

- Decision making and problem solving within extent of personal responsibility  

- Analytical and numerate  

- Recognise submission requirements and compile a logical sequence of actions necessary to achieve the deadline  

- Excellent interpersonal skills  

- Demonstrates commercial awareness  

- First class customer facing skills  

- Good written and verbal communication skills  

- Appropriate IT skills including the use of company software packages  

- Possess a current driving licence
