Job description

Our client is one of the largest civil engineering and infrastructure specialists across the water sectors who has a requirement for experienced Site Agents / Managers working on water projects out of Kilkenny in Ireland.  

Based on a designated site in the area, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of Supervisors, delivery teams and sub-contractors on site. You’ll look to ensure resources are utilised correctly to ensure efficiency is achieved and they optimise their workforce to meet deadlines.  

There is an exciting opportunity for both Engineers and site Agents on this contract and as the works encompass multi-disciplines as detailed below the role is suited to applicants that have experience in site engineering in either civil or mechanical / electrical industry. The candidates should have a general knowledge of Health and safety requirements and be competent in generating method statement and risk assessments for the works. The candidates should be familiar with Permit to work systems and possess strong communication skills.  

The senior roles of site agent should be competent in the management of subcontractors and programming and resourcing of works. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft excel and Microsoft project. (the latter preferable but not essential.) They should have significant experience in the management of large-scale sites and should be able to multitask and liaise with clients and stakeholders. They should have experience in cost monitoring and valuation compilation of ongoing works and proactively seek cost reduction. They should be able to compile weekly progress reports and should be proficient in record keeping and monitoring of contract compliance in relation to direct works and sub-contractor and supply chain orders.  

Furthermore, you’ll be expected to carry out the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, quality, and performance standards and ensure all work meets required water industry regulations and Anglian Water approved standards including POSWSH.  

 

Responsibilities:  

• Accountable for SHEQ performance of Projects, including undertaking and recording findings of periodic SHEQ visits  

• Responsible for all Health and Safety issues on site, completion of paperwork, including weekly safety & environmental inspections, toolbox talks, site-specific risk assessments & method statements  

• Act as a Health & Safety ambassador across the organisation by driving cultural change into the Delivery/Design Teams to eliminate/minimise physical and non-physical waste – i.e., recycling techniques, workshop recharges, standing time etc.  

• Oversee the management of multiple concurrent projects by proactively managing site-based Supervisors and Delivery Teams ensuring safety, quality and time frames drive performance  

• Provide regular updates on progress (time, cost, and quality) to the Construction Manager and other key internal stakeholders  

• Responsible for delivery of projects in line with tender allowances and agreed programmes of work, actively managing any slippage  

• Proactively support planning responsibilities to ensure initiatives are implemented with minimal disruption, these include resourcing, project requirements and estimations  

• Procurement of plant, materials and specialist subcontractors using an appropriate financial management accounting system to ensure projects are delivered within tender allowances

Requirements

- You’ll have knowledge and experience in the water industry alongside your extensive experience in Civil and Mechanical construction.  

- Understanding the importance of site safety, you’ll have a certificate in Site Safety Management (or attended a 5-day course) and hold a relevant CSCS card.  

- Operating with commercial savvy and awareness in all that you do, you’ll be an approachable and supportive team manager and have experience of leading site teams towards established goals.  

- Your strong communications skills will allow you to build strong relationships across the organisation and influence and challenge where appropriate.
