Job description
Our Client is a railway engineering service provider specialising in construction and design of slab track solutions, track renewal and maintenance, stations, tunnels, consultancy, planning and design. This role is for a Principal Technical Engineer located in London.
You will be part of a busy construction division that provides solutions for the tender and delivery stages of their clients' projects. These will include acting as CRE(Construction) where required and leading a team of technical engineers for the construction of a project in the UK. As a growing team, you will be involved in the development of the Infrastructure Delivery Division.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:
• Manage all P-way compliance activities to meet Network Rail Standards
• Conduct work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans and other instructions.
• Manage information to ensure systems, databases, and records are updated.
• Ensure proposed construction plans are safe, cost-effective, and achievable
• Ensure timely production of Health & Safety deliverables and communication of reports, including the submission of technical documents for the Health and Safety file.
• Coordinate and conduct risk assessments to ensure all foreseeable risks are identified and mitigated.
• Conduct audits as directed.
• Ensure site reporting is completed satisfactorily.
• Lead, supervise, and perform technical tasks, surveys, installations, stressing, tamping, setting out and quality checks.
• Lead on continuous improvement of productivity and introduction of new ways of working.
• Undertake CRE (construction) Track duties
• Prepare/ review specifications and requisition for materials in collaboration with the Supervisors
• Provide technical support and guidance to project members, to develop skills and pass on knowledge
• Review or check specifications and undertake site visits to confirm requirements.
• Manage CRT for all P-way activities and conduct CRT site assessments for all sites.
• Attend engineering and technical briefings as directed and conduct forward briefings when requested by Engineering Manager.
Requirements
• Minimum Level 6 in Engineering or equivalent experience
• Professional membership or working towards
• Experienced in Track renewals for both plain line and S&C
• Track survey and setting out using conventional & 3D. (Trimble, Leica)
• Tamping both design, ALC, MOST, and maintenance.
• Stressing Levels 1 to 3
• Knowledge of track design requirements, processes, and techniques
• In-depth knowledge of key safety regulations (e.g., CDM)
• In-depth working knowledge of NWR Track Standards
