Job description
Our client is playing a leading role in the worldwide drive to decarbonise the energy networks. They have a rapidly growing portfolio of prestigious career-enhancing seismic geotechnical projects in the UK and internationally, including Sizewell ‘C’, SMR, next generation reactor projects, and large-scale defence-related developments. They have a requirement for a Principal/ Associate and Chief Geotechnical Engineer - Seismic Engineering across the UK.
Duties:
- They are looking for a range of staff who will take on either Principal, Associate or Chief Geotechnical Engineering roles in their Ground Engineering business.
- They are looking for staff who have the leadership and technical capabilities to drive complex geotechnical projects, work in a technical review function and support the client's colleagues to increase their understanding about advanced geotechnical principles.
- The successful candidates will be expected to hold a pivotal leadership role in their Geotechnical and Numerical Modelling Technical Disciplines. These form the core of their technical capability, ensuring that the client continues to push the envelope of their geotechnical design and modelling as clients continually demand more from them.
Requirements
- A strong academic background with a relevant engineering degree and ideally an MSc or PhD in a relevant subject and holding Chartered status.
- Extensive years of experience in geotechnical analysis and design experience in seismic geotechnical analysis and design including seismic design for shallow and deep foundations, soil-structure interaction, seismic deformational analyses, seismic response of dams and embankments, liquefaction assessment and ground improvement.
- Experience in leading numerical modelling teams with advanced numerical modelling software (e.g., FLAC / FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D / 3D etc) and analysing results.
- Detailed understanding of advanced constitutive soil models, parameter selection for such models, soil-structure interaction and experience of numerical modelling software (FLAC / FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D / 3D etc) in addition to standard geotechnical software.
- Experience in validation of geotechnical numerical analysis and numerical model calibration.
- Experience in managing the process of geotechnical numerical analysis within an interdisciplinary project environment.
- Capability to drive digital innovation and further client’s capability in advanced geotechnical analysis and design.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to manage the delivery of exemplary written documents and review the work of colleagues.
- A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.
- A valid UK driving licence.
