Job description
This contract with our Rail client is for an Assistant Construction Manager for 6 months in Exeter. The pay rate to candidate is £207 Umbrella / £152.04 PAYE.
location of work is Exeter and therefore HM is interested in applicants that are based around this area or that can commute to varying office location in Exeter, and also sites along this route as the role is completely line side. The work split is a follows - 40% admin and 60% on site.
Responsibilities:
- Expected to provide estimate and outputs from site visits and include engineers time.
- A lot of the work is looking at adjacent construction work to the client's sites, i.e large constructions at multi level i.e 10 storey buildings. If someone is using scaffolding, and excavations they would need to know.
- They will be visiting sites to make sure the controls are in place as per the method of working and scope of information.
- Working alongside an asset engineer who is based in Cornwall covering from Barnstable to Exeter.
- Most of the time they will be getting enquiries and making contact with the customer.
- They will do a desktop exercise to begin with. They have patches of enquires going that are going to different places and will need to determine where they need to go so for example; South of Exeter going South up to Barnstaple. If needed to go North so be it.
- They do over bridge works as well, and work with a lot of the utilities companies.
- Period of training for a month. They have to shadow other people on site.
- They would have to arrange transport and overnight stays
- They are not responsible for the design or the delivery. They are there to review their information from method statements.
Requirements
- Ideally looking for someone from a rail background
- Construction Risk and Risk Management and Assessment knowledge
- Construction background knowledge and supervised and understand H&S
- Project Management Experience
- The ability to translate the works down in plain language.
- Experienced in the ALO process, using the machine close to boundaries.
- Risk background knowledge and understanding, and highlighting them to the customer. Its not the work that might cause the risk more so the traffic management system.
