Senior DevOps Engineer

This contract with our government client is for a Senior DevOps Engineer for 5 months based in one of these locations (Plymouth ,Weymouth, Telford, Swansea, Peterborough, Nottingham, Leicester, Hull, Gloucester, Fylde, Durham, Croydon, Coventry, Birkenhead), 60% office attendance.  

Role Overview:  

The Senior DevOps Engineer is part of the IT Operations Practice which sits within the Digital, Data and Technology directorate whose responsibility is for the performance and delivery of all technical infrastructure which, underpins and supports the organisation. It consists of technical teams which provide support, monitor and operate technical solutions.  

The DevOps function is responsible for working with their IT software development teams to support the delivery of the platform and infrastructure for their new micro service applications as part of the digital transformation of their internal and external services. Engineers are responsible for configuration, administration and support of the infrastructure using a DevOps methodology across multiple cloud infrastructures, ensuring they are secure, performant, supportable whilst following an agile approach to incremental delivery.  

This role is to provide technical engineering capability for the Web Operations team, responsible for supporting production systems and working with Agile development teams to delivery new services in a highly available and supportable configuration using DevOps processes and tooling providing. The Senior DevOps Engineer will provide technical leadership within the team, settings standards and championing them. They will engage with other DevOps Engineers, as well as coach and support DevOps engineer and Junior DevOps Engineers.

Candidates MUST have lakeformation, Glue, Athena, Sagemaker and API Gateway  

• Strong experience of AWS API Gateway supporting the development of RESTful APIs, Sagemaker Studio, Lambda and supporting AWS data services such as ElastiCache (Redis), Glue, SQS, Athena and Kafka, Kubernetes, Openshift, AWS, Puppet, Automation.  

• Experience in working in DevOps and Agile environments  

• Hands-on experience with Terraform to create, manage, and modify infrastructure  

• Scripting/Programming experience (e.g. Groovy, Python, Java, Go)
