Job description

This contract with our defence client is for a Handover Manager for 12 months. The role is located in Aldermaston or Burghfield onsite 3 days per week.  

 

Key Accountabilities:  

- Accountable for management of Handover aspects of a Portfolio of projects or a single large project.  

- Accountable for reporting to the Handover Team Leader in line with operating procedures.  

- Accountable for providing handover status reporting and resource forecasting to the Handover Team Leader against project programmes.  

- All - maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.  

- Additional accountabilities for this job profile may be defined and appointed through the Chief Engineer Management Arrangements, with appointees listed within the Company Design Authorities and Technical Authorities, as held in the company management system.  

 

Key Responsibilities:  

- Comply with the client's procedures, processes & standards and ensure that all project team personnel comply with the specific procedures relating to Handover.  

- Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project Handover information to the client and project team.  

- Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and for developing this attitude in others.  

- Keep Senior Portfolio Project Managers and others informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations and Handover.  

- Implement and chair project acceptance meetings.  

- Ensuring sufficient resource has been agreed with the Handover Team Leader.  

- Assuring deliverables and arrangements between all participating stakeholders are agreed and appropriately accounted for.  

- Provide notification of Risks, Issues and Mitigating actions to the Project Manager and Group Leader Commissioning and Handover.  

- Ensure that supply chain framework understand the client's Handover Processes and are aware of client's expectations in relation to Handover.  

- Provision of final acceptance of completed documentation.  

- Review the Handover Management Arrangements; Handover deliverable lists; and Functional Breakdown Structures of projects within the portfolio.

Requirements

Essential:  

• Leadership experience  

• Will be task managing co-ordinators.  

• H&S Compliance background  

• Experience leading projects/workstreams.  

• Project Manager background within facilities / infrastructure (NOT IT)  

• Quality Manager experience  

• Knowledge of BSRIA / RIBA  

• PowerBI, Trackers, Meridian (in-house system), knowledge of RIBA or BSRIA (PM Frameworks – Nuclear and/or Construction)  

• Previously responsible for a project within the handover phase  

• Qualified PM with Engineering degree / HNC or above  

 

Desirable requirements:  

• Construction/Engineering/Infrastructure/Facilities background  

 

Red Flags  

• NOT an IT Project Manager
