Job description

Our client is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies. They are recruiting for dynamic and motivated near-Chartered, Chartered, Senior and Principal Geotechnical Engineers with strong technical credentials and particular focus in seismic geotechnics and advanced geotechnical analysis to support their increasing workload in the UK and globally.  

 

Duties:  

- They are looking for a range of staff who will take on either Chartered, Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineering roles in their Ground Engineering business. They are looking for staff who can fill key roles in complex geotechnical projects with minimal supervision, develop their experience and support the wider client's practice as they develop out team.  

-The successful candidates will be expected to hold a key role in their Geotechnical and Numerical Modelling Technical Discipline teams. These form the core of their technical capability, ensuring that our client continues to push the envelope of our geotechnical design and modelling as clients continually demand more from them.

Requirements

- A strong academic background with a relevant engineering degree and ideally an MSc or PhD in a relevant subject.  

- Solid years of experience in performing numerical modelling with advanced numerical modelling software (e.g., FLAC / FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D / 3D etc) and analysing results.  

- Experience in validation of geotechnical numerical analysis and numerical model calibration.  

- Experience in the process of geotechnical numerical analysis within an interdisciplinary project environment.  

- A desire to drive digital innovation and further client’s capability in advanced geotechnical analysis and design.  

- Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines.  

- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.  

- Strong interest in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues within the Geotechnical team.  

- A willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.  

- Working towards or holding Chartered status.  

- A valid UK driving licence.  

 

The following qualifications are considered desirable:  

- Detailed understanding of advanced constitutive soil models, parameter selection for undertaking non-linear analysis (e.g., dynamic analysis, Soil-Structure interaction, thermo-mechanical calculations including creep calculations).  

- Experience in programming (e.g., Python, C++) with focus in geotechnical applications.  

- Proven geotechnical analysis and design experience in seismic geotechnical analysis and design including seismic design for shallow and deep foundations, soil-structure interaction, seismic deformational analyses, seismic response of dams and embankments, liquefaction assessment and ground improvement.
