Job description

My client is seeking an Ecologist to join their close-knit team, on a full-time permanent basis. As a key member of their Environment team, you will play an integral role in the development and implementation of their Environmental Strategy. As Ecologist you will play an integral role in the implementation, of the organisations Environmental Strategy. You will be carrying out Ecological studies across a range of projects and environments. The salary is £30,000 - £35,000 plus company vehicle (for commuting and business use). This role requires 40 hours of work per week, it will also require some out of hours working associated with ecological surveys, including weekends, evenings and overnight.  

This is also a hands-on role in which you will conduct ecological studies and impact assessments across a range of projects and environments to identify and advise how together they can balance the needs of the projects with those of the environment  

This role is ideally suited to someone with experience working as an Ecologist and is looking for the next step in their career. The ideal candidate will be pragmatic, an excellent communicator, self-motivated, a team player with the ability to work autonomously.  

Naturally, you will be field-based for a significant amount of your time, so you must be happy to work in all that the British weather has to offer! Based in Hampshire and conducting field work across the southern region, the successful candidate must be flexible in their approach to work, have a full driving licence and be willing to travel.

Requirements

• Degree in a related subject, or equivalent  

• Protected species handling licence/s (ideally dormice, newts, bats)  

• Associate Member of CIEEM  

• Highly organised and experienced in data collation and technical report-writing  

• Experience in the rail industry (desirable)  

• Experience of Ecological Impact Assessments
