Job description
Our client is a main contractor that works in the Highways and Transportation sectors and on the back of several significant key contract wins our client is looking to expand their work winning team with the key hire of a Senior Bid Manager to lead their strategic highways Infrastructure Bids across England.
As a Senior Bid Manager you will be part of the company's Strategic Work Winning Team who are responsible for winning work and growing the business.
As a Senior Bid Manager your duties & responsibilities will be:
- Leading the coordination of strategic bids ensuring all necessary resources are in place with clear actions and timescales for bid completion
- Collaborate and influence the bid team to establish common and specific win themes, differentiators and effective tender strategies
- Manage virtual bid teams and inputs from key stakeholders, typically engaging with BD, marketing, estimating, finance, commercial, legal and project management / delivery.
- Work with the Bid Director lead to develop a clear win strategy for each bid and ensure win themes are clear and compelling.
- Manage the end-to-end bid process.
- Ensure timescales are achieved at each step of the bid process, including all internal governance, while taking the initiative in setting realistic deadlines.
- Ensure on-time submission of compliant and commercially sound bids.
- Co-ordinate and plan all client presentations required as part of the bid submission.
- Drive continuous improvement, through post-bid reviews, both internally and with customers.
- Supporting the Strategic Development Director in shaping strategic targets that will support the agreed business plan
- Working closely with and supporting the Work Winning team and Business Directors for each of the work types – Highways Maintenance, Street Lighting Maintenance and Projects
- Supporting Business Development in building a detailed understanding of our clients and identifying key opportunities/challenges as well as details of key decision makers
- Working with Business Development to develop new clients
- Working with Marketing and Communications team to increase market exposure with focussed targeting their key current and future clients
- Active engagement and management of client procurement events, supporting prequalification and bid submissions, workshops and bid writing activities
Requirements
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally gained within the sectors in which the company operates
- Demonstrable experience of working to critical timescales to deliver successful bids worth in excess of £250m
- Previous experience contributing to writing bids with a high quality of documentation
- Willingness and confidence in engaging new customers and interacting with stakeholders of all levels
- Knowledge of the Transportation sector would be beneficial
- Marketing and communications experience would be desirable
- Willingness to travel occasionally to visit operations/offices
- Full driving licence
- Strong communications skills.
