Job description

Our client is one of the leading names in the field of Clean Water Network providing services to the Water market sector. Due to a practice expansion they seek to appoint an Urban Drainage Modelling Specialist to join their teams operating from across the UK.  

 

This role could be in any of the following locations: Epsom, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Peterborough.  

 

The successful candidate shall demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the water market sector, excellent technical skills and have a proven track record of business development, client management, project management and line management. You will be required to undertake a key role in the delivery of clean water network Infrastructure projects and as well as being responsible in supporting the leadership and development of their Urban Drainage Modelling capability.  

 

Responsibilities:  

The role will have key responsibilities relating to business performance, business resilience and technical reputation and will contribute to the implementation of business strategy. Key responsibilities include:  

 

Technical Duties:  

- Assume Technical Lead role on projects to ensure the client delivers Smarter, Faster and More Reliable outcomes for its clients.  

- Undertake Project Director role on projects where required.  

- Undertake Programme / Framework Manager roles on strategic / multi-disciplinary projects.  

- Actively encourage staff to participate in, and contribute to, internal best practice forums, and external profile-raising activities.  

- Promote staff development through training, on-the-job experience, and personal development.  

 

Business Duties:  

- Actively encourage Team integration.  

- Ensure compliance with corporate standards and policies.  

- Client Relationship Development with their key Water Company and non-Water Company clients with the strategic growth of both revenue and margin.  

- Promote the merge of more traditional engineering skills with innovative digital methods.  

- Management / technical support of bidding opportunities to win work and identify and mitigate risks.

Requirements

The successful candidate should be degree qualified, have appropriate professional qualifications, and have a broad range of experience in:  

 

- Model Build and Verification – creating robust sewer network models that are suitable for analysis and solution development.  

- Model Maintenance –updating models and improving them with a focus on specific study drivers.  

- Hydraulic and Water Quality Analysis – intelligent assessment of catchment hydraulics and pollutant sources to identify needs and risks.  

- Integrated Catchment Modelling – constructing models for assessing the interaction between sewers (storm and foul), watercourses and overland flows.  

- Catchment Planning– determination of hydraulic, environmental and operational needs of catchments and the development of various horizon strategies to improve catchment performance.  

- Solution Development– development of outline designs, and support through detailed design process.  

- Technical Leadership – providing direction and advice to their clients to help them make better asset investment decisions.  

 

Other key attributes required include:  

- Demonstrable track record of technical achievement and client satisfaction within the water industry.  

- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.  

- Positive outlook and approachable manner.  

- Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal staff and external Clients.  

- Ability to be flexible and to be able to multi-task and prioritize when necessary.  

- Full clean UK driving license.
