Job description

Our client is a major tier 1 main contractor that works in the water and civils markets across the UK, due to recent project wins they now have several fantastic opportunities and are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor – Cross Programme. You will join their framework with the Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA).  

 

In this role you will:  

- Support the delivery team and Projects Commercial Manger to deliver projects under budget to increase gainshare  

- Work with the procurement team to ensure the AW Procurement Policy is followed and ‘best for task’ approach is adhered to with the Procurement Strategy.  

- Provide delivery teams with commercial support and training requirements, including risk & opportunity, change management, contract management.  

- Management of subcontract accounts – from drafting and agreement to payment and final accounts  

 

Key responsibilities:  

Leadership:  

- Responsible for project commercial deliverables.  

- Support and develop the commercial team within the region to succeed, add value and support the commercial function  

Commercial Management:  

- Work alongside the Regional Delivery Manager / Senior Contracts Manager to deliver projects within budget.  

- Provide delivery teams with commercial support and training requirements.  

Accurate Forecasting:  

- Project updates including forecast expenditure, programme updates, supply chain disputes, change management, contract management  

- Scope and forecast/costs  

Value Management:  

- Run earned value process and support delivery teams with cost info for budget setting via plan for stage process  

Procurement:  

- Work with the procurement team to support in supply chain negotiations and contract drafting  

Risk & Opportunity Management:  

- Project level including, change management and reporting up to programme level.  

- Management of subcontract accounts – from drafting and agreement to payment and final account, utilising the CEMAR system and using standard framework templates

Requirements

- Experienced in delivering large scale projects including civil, mechanical, infrastructure and non-infrastructure type work.  

- Adaptable to the changing methodology of commercial management with the creation of new digital reporting requirements.  

- Proactive about new ways of working, problem solving and continuous improvement  

- Able to lead by example and develop their team’s skills and experience  

- Confident dealing with stakeholders from different disciplines to establish complete commercial understanding  

- Confident to challenge the wider project team’s view on scope and hold them accountable for deliverables
