Job description

My client is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Landscape Construction Projects team, focusing on works in and around the Midlands and North but predominantly home based.  

This role works closely with the Projects team to deliver all projects efficiently whilst also achieving maximum profit reporting against target profit margin results.  

Overall, you will work to improve the financial performance and commercial reporting on large scale Landscaping projects and contracts, keeping the delivery team well informed.  

 

Key responsibilities:  

- Improve the financial performance and commercial reporting on contracts.  

- Measuring resource cost against sales value – monthly cost & value reconciliation (CVR)  

- Providing cost forecast reports to project team & Commercial manager for update of CVR  

- Highlighting areas of cost overrun/underspend to budget &/or sales value.  

- Provide weekly cost reports to Project Manager  

- Prepare monthly valuations, in line with the payment schedule, for agreement with PM & CM to submit a valid application representing the full value of the works completed at the specified date, with full contractual justification and supporting evidence to maximise entitlement.  

- Assisting with sales forecasting, the planning and programming of workload.  

- Manage change control process (variations)recording and valuing AI’s (with PM input)  

- Agreeing change account with client QS  

- Carry out site measures as required.  

- Taking off materials to compare drawings against bill items.  

- Obtain quotations, prepare, and place specialist subcontract packages of work after discussion and agreement with the project team.  

- Assist in the Preparation of procurement schedules for material price quotations and call-off.  

- Working closely with procurement to manage delivery against programme.  

- Agree and process monthly sub-contractor’s accounts and payment certificates.  

- Review field team time sheets and invoices to ensure labour costs are in line with the project plan.  

- Document control internal & external in close working with the project team (e.g., Architect drawing revisions /AI’s/RFI’s/Variation quotations/sub-contractor accounts)  

- Liaise with PM & CM regarding delays/entitlements for recovery of additional time and money.  

- Draft any resulting contractual notices for review.  

Attend internal monthly contract review meetings.  

- Provide commercial administration of any contract you are engaged to administer, provide contractual notices in a timely manner.  

- Protect from difficult paying parties, Highlight, and manage any potential breaches that could/may occur, Mitigate, and manage contractual risk to avoid/mitigate dispute with clients. Set out the sum considered to be due and the basis of the calculation.  

- Identify project risks and establish mitigation plan in conjunction with PM.
