Job description

Our client is a Tier 1 contractor that works in the water market across the UK, due to project requirement they are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer join their team to work on on the Severn Trent Framework, based in the West Midlands. This is a full time site based role.  

 

Our client is working closely with Severn Trent Water on their Capital Delivery Framework, as part of its c£2 billion capital programme for AMP7.  

 

As part of the Design and Build Framework lot, Our client brings together its design, construction, and consultancy expertise to undertake renewal and refurbishment projects and will assist Severn Trent in its target to make continuous improvements to its safety performance, whilst ensuring continuity of supply and consequently lowering costs of its customers.  

 

Responsibilities:  

Management of mechanical subcontractor design and installation work packages including health & safety, quality, environmental, work scope, programme, cost, risk, communications, stakeholders, coordination of multiple work packages, coordination with other disciplines.  

 

Main Duties:  

• Technical input into tender and subcontract evaluation.  

• Pre-start and periodic subcontractor meetings, Client meetings.  

• Assessment of subcontractor stage payments and forecast to complete.  

• Documentation requirements and deliverables.  

• Management of risk and change.  

• Non-conformances and defects.  

• Package governance.  

• Planning and progress monitoring, management of subcontractor programmes.  

• Quality assurance and quality control.  

• Technical queries.  

• RAMS review and approval, permits to work, inspection and test plans & check sheets.  

• Mechanical isolations.  

• Inter-package and interdisciplinary coordination.  

• Compilation of quality and handover documentation.  

Requirements

• HNC or higher within Mechanical Engineering discipline  

• Previous mechanical experience on water projects  

• Understanding of Engineering Principles and extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices  

• Champions Sustainability Safety, Health and Environment by putting personal safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything they do and helping the environment and communities to thrive  

• Having integrity by always doing the right thing in the right way  

• Must be customer focused by striving for excellence through understanding, anticipating and meeting their needs
