Job description

Our client is a cost consultancy working in the water & utilities sectors and they are currently looking to recruit for a Cost Engineer for their Kent operations.  

 

Job Purpose  

 

In this role, you will contribute to the financial efficiency and overall performance of the project ensuring that costs are meticulously tracked throughout project delivery. Your responsibilities will encompass both cost estimation for project modifications and the organization of cost-related data for the administration of key performance indicators.  

 

Key Responsibilities:  

• Collaborating with project stakeholders to prepare accurate time-writing codes for new projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.  

• Monitoring non-billable time within the project team, applying your expertise to maintain these within the agreed overhead charge limits.  

• Maintaining an up-to-date record of costs for each project, diligently tracking both incurred and liable costs, and providing regular status updates to relevant stakeholders.  

• Fostering effective communication with the corporate team, ensuring timely billing of man-hour costs and supporting efficient financial processes.  

• Employing your analytical skills to prepare P50 cost estimates for project modifications, contributing to informed decision-making and resource allocation.  

• Leveraging historical data and your keen insight to collate cost norms, drawing from experience to inform current and future projects.  

 

Requirements  

 

Must have:  

• Graduate engineer or equivalent qualification.  

• Experience in engineering design service contracts.  

• Experience in dealing with and analysing Contractors costs  

• Minimum 5 years, in utilities or engineering projects  

• Familiar with the administration of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).  

• Computer proficiency.
