Job description

Our client is a leading environmental and civil engineering company specializing in delivering sustainable solutions for both land and aquatic environments. With a strong reputation for innovation, the company offers a wide range of services, including dredging, civil engineering, habitat creation, and environmental restoration.  

 

They are looking for a Supervisor/Foreman to work on a major Earthwork project for at least 6 months.  

 

Duties:  

Responsible for delivering the day to day site based activities of a couple of teams that are undertaking dredging on the drain from floating pontoons and depositing arisings on the bankside. Specifically:  

Maintaining a good working environment on site, to encourage feedback and ideas from all personnel on site and instill a good work ethic.  

Understand the responsibilities of operatives and ensure that they are managed effectively.  

Carry out works in a safe manner in accordance with RAMS and as required under the contract. Reporting any near misses, incidents, positive improvements. Keep records of daily activities and issues.  

Ensure team work efficiently and productively, minimizing wasted time, effort and resource.  

Understand the program me and what is to be delivered on a daily basis. Look ahead to mitigate delays.  

Be able to recognize works that are not within the original contract scope.  

Requirements

Proven experience as a Site Supervisor or in a similar role working on projects involving Earthworks/Dredging  

Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and site management best practices.  

Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.  

Competency in reading and understanding construction drawings, plans, and specifications.  

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions under pressure.  

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a positive attitude and proactive approach.  

 

Qualifications:  

 

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification.  

First Aid at Work certification.  

NVQ Level 3 in Construction Supervision or equivalent (desirable).  

CSCS Card (supervisory level).  

Knowledge of temporary works and lifting operations is advantageous.
