Job description
Our client is a water and civil engineering contractor with many years experience delivering world class projects across the UK and they are currently looking to recruit Quantity Surveyors from a water background to join their team in Peterborough or Nottingham and work on the AMP7 framework.
What you will be doing?
- Accountable to the Project Commercial Manager (PCM) for the commercial and cost management of a project or programme of projects from inception through to close out.
- To be commercially conscious of the integrated delivery team, providing commercial support to both the delivery management and on-site delivery teams.
- Responsibility to ensure that operations are carried out to control costs , maximising value, minimising future liabilities and maintaining the required standard of quality and safety whilst also ensuring that maximum efficiencies are obtained and full compliance with the Alliance and Anglian Water governance procedures is achieved.
- All to be done working as part of an integrated delivery team providing commercial challenges and recommending actions to achieve and create an environment of their performance.
Responsibilities:
· The programme area estimating team to ensure robust estimates are provided that align with the scope and make allowance for risks and opportunities including any necessary analysis, and transfer of data to the Alliance Procurement system and Cost Base.
· Ensure there is 360 feedback and learning from actual costs updating the Estimators accordingly.
· Subcontracts are properly prepared & reflect the agreed scope.
· Subcontracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, early warnings, compensation events, programme submissions etc., and all contract files are maintained & kept up to date.
· Work closely with the procurement team, Construction Manager and Project Delivery Manager (PDM) to develop & monitor procurement strategy.
· Work closely with the site team attending the site regularly to ensure they are aware of and can manage the allowances and outputs, provide robust challenges to achieve outperformance, communicate change control and escalate when necessary.
Requirements
- You ’ll hold an Engineering Degree or qualification (HNC or HND) and have previous experience within the water industry.
- Whilst previous experience in implementing innovative solutions is desirable, your leadership skills with multidisciplinary teams are vital in understanding the complex challenges we face.
- You’ll inspire confidence in your team and key stakeholders by being well-organised and heavily client focused.
- Able to successfully mitigate potentially conflicting interests between parties, your strong technical knowledge and background will come to the fore as you drive efficiencies and innovation.
