Job description
A great opportunity has arisen to work for a company who specialize in cutting-edge water purification systems, environmentally conscious household goods, or renewable energy solutions. They are looking to hire an experienced Electrical Design Engineer/ICA based out of their Birmingham office.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing electrical systems for water treatment facilities, pumping stations, and other infrastructure. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are completed to the highest standards, within budget, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed electrical designs and schematics for water infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, mechanical engineers, and civil engineers to integrate electrical systems seamlessly.
- Perform load calculations, fault analysis, and equipment sizing.
- Prepare technical specifications, procurement documents, and cost estimates.
- Review and approve technical drawings, plans, and documentation.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges during project implementation.
- Stay updated on the latest electrical engineering advancements and sustainability practices within the water sector.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 - 10 years’ experience in the design of water and wastewater Electrical / ICA engineering deliverables.
- Integrate within the engineering team working on multiple smaller project schemes
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong focus on water or wastewater projects.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar tools).
- In-depth knowledge of national and international electrical standards (e.g., IEC, NEC).
- Strong understanding of PLC and SCADA systems.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification or progress toward certification is advantageous.
