Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for one of our esteemed Blue Chip Main contractors in the rail sector. They have recently been awarded a major depot project in London and are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join their dynamic team.  

 

 

What you will be doing:  

 

 

Lead and manage the design process from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality outputs.  

Coordinate with various stakeholders including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.  

Oversee the preparation and submission of design documentation in line with project requirements and timelines.  

Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and client specifications.  

Identify and mitigate design risks and issues promptly.  

Facilitate design reviews, workshops, and meetings.  

Manage design changes and ensure clear communication with all parties involved.  

Support the procurement team in selecting and managing design consultants and subcontractors.  

Monitor and report on design progress, providing regular updates to senior management.  

Ensure cost-effective design solutions without compromising on quality or safety.  

Requirements

Extensive experience as a Design Manager, preferably in the rail sector.  

Proven track record in managing design teams on large-scale projects.  

Strong knowledge of design processes, construction methods, and relevant regulations.  

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.  

Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.  

Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.  

Professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent are advantageous.  

Design Management experience working London Underground / Depot Projects  

 

 

Desirable:  

•IStructE (The institution of Structural Engineers)  

•CEng (Chartered engineer)
