Job description

Our client offers civil engineering services to rail and power sectors, as well as training services. They are currently seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to work in the South East, with travel around Southern England.  

 

Job Description:  

 

Responsibilities for this role include:  

- Supporting all aspects of health and safety within the company, with particular focus on projects by providing professional guidance and advice, enhancing collaboration by attending and contributing to project meetings, adding value and creativity.  

- Assisting with the production of health and safety documents such as method statements, risk assessments, COSHH assessments and related project safety documentation, through collaboration and credibility with stakeholders. Making them user friendly and easy to understand.  

- Ensuring health, safety, quality and environmental controls are in accordance with our client and their Client’s requirements as a minimum. Tools to check this will include site visits, carrying out inspections and audits, gaining feedback and utilising the learnings to enhance their HSQE provision.  

- Identifying training needs where appropriate, escalating and supporting compliance.  

- To ensure all personnel understand their standards and requirements, you would be involved with carrying out HSQE inductions including company and project inductions.  

- Developing, delivering, and monitoring the delivery of Toolbox Talks to ensure their safety culture is energised and at the forefront of all they do.  

- Assisting with investigations and enquiries into health, safety, quality and environmental related incidents/issues.  

- Ensuring the company HSQE document management system requirements are communicated, and followed by all employees and subcontractors, providing assistance and advice where necessary, and also gaining feedback and acting on that.  

- Ensuring employees and anyone else acting on behalf of our client within designated projects are aware of safety, environmental and quality policies and act accordingly.  

- Any other reasonable requests.  

- Health, safety, quality and environmental responsibilities.  

Requirements

• 2 years safety experience in the railway or construction environment  

• Excellent communications skills, written and verbal  

• Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft  

• Knowledge & understanding of risk assessment processes and techniques  

• Knowledge of Railway Rules and Regulations as applicable (this may be gained in the months following employment).  

• Credibility  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION:  

• Safety Qualification to NEBOSH General Certificate (or NVQ Level 3) level or higher.  

• Internal auditing qualification  

• PTS card (this is desirable)
