Job description
Our client is an industry leading company specialising in rail signalling, delivering design and consultancy services. This role is for an experienced Signalling Design CRE with the ability to provide strong technical support to a multi-disciplinary team. Fully remote role with occasional site visits, an excellent opportunity to work on large scale ongoing projects.
Responsibilities for this role include:
- Support the Signalling Design Manager / Technical Director with additional duties as required such as, progress/programme reporting, tendering new works, production of guidance notes.
- Review, verify and/or lead the production of signalling design as part of a dedicated signalling design team, as well as provide guidance and leadership to staff within their and other teams.
- Must have a comprehensive understanding of the technical and business aspects of the rail-signalling industry, the Signalling Design CRE will lead the signalling design working in multi-disciplinary project teams, providing strong technical support to the discipline in terms of production, verification and mentoring.
- Strong knowledge of signalling design and interlocking principles, Network Rail standards, components and fabrication methods as well as hands-on experience managing the production, checking and approval of feasibility, outline and/or detailed signalling principles design and calculations.
- Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, company procedures and standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience of undertaking CRE responsibilities, ideally for Network Rail.
- A comprehensive understanding of the technical and business aspects of the rail-signalling industry
- Holder of 1.1.550 Signalling Principles Designer, 7.8.110E Engineering Manager (Design) or 7.8.220E
- Senior Engineering Manager (Design) licence
- Registered with professional engineering institution (IRSE, IET etc.) at IEng or CEng.
- Experience of acting as Signalling Design CRE
- Experience of delivering signalling design as part of multi-disciplinary rail systems projects
- Experienced in the use of all MS Office packages
- Demonstrated knowledge of UK signalling principles
- Excellent knowledge of signalling systems of all generations
- Understanding of CDM regulations
Desirable:
- Holder of 1.1.160v6 Signalling Design Verifier.
- Institution membership; IRSE, IET etc.
- Institution registration; IEng, CEng etc (if in addition to applicable IRSE licence).
- Holder of PTS.
- Degree, HND, HNC etc.
- Experienced in the use of common data environments such as ProjectWise
