Job description

This contract with our Defence/Nuclear client is for an Industrial Relations Consultant for 12 Months based in Aldermaston – 3 days/week on site (9 day fortnight). Part time working will be considered, but candidate will need to work min 4 days/week,.  

 

Responsibilities:  

• Lead and manage a personal case load and/or projects, drawing on relevant expertise to resolve complex issues and manage business risk.  

• Deliver a company wide HR service line including associated data management, provider management, legal compliance and delivery of supporting employee communications.  

• Lead the consistent delivery of high-quality HR/ER advice to customers, working to agreed SLAs and driving a customer centric service and culture of continuous improvement and process optimisation.  

• Setting direction and developing a shared understanding of individuals’ roles in delivering the organisation's vision and strategy.  

• Lead and deliver a defined HR service to support the needs of the business; work with each Head of HR CoE’s to ensure that at all times they are legally compliant, relevant and timely, and reflect the organisation's needs and industry best practise.  

• Provide data, undertake expert analysis, research and make recommendations on HR solutions. Facilitate the creation and management of reports to track their key measures of success.  

• Align the company's process, policies and practices to keep in line with best practice, legal requirements etc. to delivery improvements and build momentum for change, and challenge existing processes if they inhibit improvement.  

• Build relationships with external related organisations in order to maintain legal and regulatory compliance and best practise.  

• Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.

Requirements

Essential:  

• Strong industrial relation/Trade Union/large industrial site experience required.  

• Good working knowledge of employment law.  

• Strong listening & evaluating skills.  

• Managerial business skills  

• Strong stakeholder engagement  

• Experience of drafting documents & agreements.  

• Strong analytical skills, able to resolve pay & cost queries.  

• Able to communicate with front line – not a standard HR/desk-based role.  

• Strong MS Office skills  

• Educated to degree level – will need to understand legalese and be good with numbers.
