Job description

This contract with our government client is for a Low Voltage Power Distribution Design Engineer for 6 months based in Didcot (On Site) .The pay rate to candidate is £38.78 Umbrella – £27.91 PAYE.  

 

Role Overview:  

Our client has a requirement for additional contract design and drafting resource. Candidates will be required to design BS7671:2018 compliant low voltage (LV) electrical supply and distribution systems, along with associated technical design documentation.  

 

Stretch your technical skills while enabling the advancement of humanity’s understanding of materials. Promote sustainability and create new materials and, alongside world-leading scientists and technologists, shape projects that improve lives, in the UK and far beyond.  

 

Some site work, to facilitate integration of new designs into existing site supply and distribution infrastructure will be required.  

Requirements

Key Requirements  

• Good working knowledge of British and European Standards, including BS7671:2018, 18th edition wiring regulations and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989  

• Trained and proficient in the use of AutoCAD Electrical and Trimble Pro design software  

• Good knowledge of cabling, electrical manufacturing, and installation techniques  

 

Essential skills & knowledge  

• Broad understanding of electrical engineering  

• Proven record of electrical design engineering in a technical project/industrial environment  

• Fully conversant with electrical circuit diagrams and 2D drawings  

• Computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office  

 

Personal Skills and Qualities  

• Self-motivated and disciplined, with the ability to work from verbal and written instructions  

• Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written  

• Proven ability to plan, organise and deliver work packages to project deadlines  

• Ability to work reliably under pressure, both in a team and alone  

 

Desirables  

• IET membership  

• Experience of working in a scientific research environment  

 

Candidates must be fully trained and proficient in:  

• The production of technical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical software  

• BS7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations (THIS IS REQUIRED)  

• Use of Trimble Pro design software  

 

Qualifications  

• HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
