Job description

This contract with our government client is for a Financial Investigator for 9 months based in Chatham.  

 

Duties & Responsibilities:  

This Examiner/Investigator role is key to driving forward a key deliverable: the maximising of returns to creditors, by carrying out investigations aimed at identifying, protecting, and realising assets. Specifics of the role include:  

- Interrogation and analysis of accounting records and other documents to identify potential recoveries such as antecedent payments, director loan accounts, claims for misfeasance.  

- Making enquiries of appropriates parties to establish details of potential asset recoveries.  

- Liaising with solicitors, stakeholders and colleagues on recovery matters.  

- Making recommendations and decisions on recovery actions taking into account legal and commercial considerations and the Official Receiver’s statutory duties in each case.  

- Preparing and reviewing court reports.  

- Reporting any misconduct identified to the appropriate enforcement body and liaising on any resultant investigation.  

- Keeping an audit trail of case progress and recommendations on the Service’s case database.

Requirements

Key Essential Skills:  

- You will have an accountancy/financial background. Appropriate legal experience would also be an advantage.  

- You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, being able to interrogate accounting information (which may be incomplete) recognise patterns and trends, to draw key conclusions from a wide range of evidence and data.  

- You will have a keen eye for detail and a tenacious approach to your work.  

- You will have an inquisitive mind and be able to constructively challenge at all levels to achieve the right results.  

- You will be able to communicate effectively and sensitively with a wide range of stakeholders including bankrupts, creditors, and directors in order to progress cases and establish information.  

- You will have excellent drafting skills, enabling you to produce high quality, clear and professional written materials e.g. letters to solicitors, clear recommendations on cases.  

• You will be highly motivated, with an ability to work independently and at pace managing a caseload.  

• You will have experience using Altia software.
