Job description

This contract with our Defence/Nuclear client is for a Supply Chain Specialist for 12 months in Aldermaston - Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office.  

 

This role sits within the Process and Performance Excellence Team. It is looking at the Governance which supports the Procurements, rather than the Procurement itself.  

 

Main duties are:  

• Governance for procurements that are going through individual the organisation/ Public procurement regulations  

• Stakeholder/Account management  

• Making sure stakeholders are aware of changes regarding governance.  

 

Key Accountabilities:  

- Provide technical expertise in one or more of the following specialisms;  

- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practice processes and systems.  

- Working with the organisation's Business System (electronic purchasing) and information management systems to support functional governance.  

- Management of approved suppliers including supplier records and due diligence activities.  

- Governance of the organisation's Supply Chain Management policies, processes and systems including preparation of material for and participating in audits (internal and external e.g. LRQA, ONR etc.), and reporting risk, savings and benefits.  

- Provision of standard and bespoke business reports, analysis and presentations.  

- Maintaining functional budgetary and resource plans.  

- Developing and maintaining working relationships and awareness with key internal stakeholders.  

- Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.  

 

Key Responsibilities:  

- Specific responsibilities will depend on the specialism but may include:  

- Support change and champion best practice by actively participating in reviews of SCM processes and systems, ensuring adherence, providing training and escalating issues as appropriate.  

- Manage and maintain SCM data e.g. electronic purchasing system, contractual/supplier records and activity trackers.  

- Design, delivery, analysis and commentary of both standard and bespoke reports to provide performance reports, dashboards and facilitate governance reviews and audit.  

- Provide presentations and training to users and internal/external stakeholders to promote awareness of the supply chain function and support compliance.  

- Management of SCM risks associated with the role.  

- Manage SCM budget and headcount, prepare inputs to annual cost forecasts.  

- Seek and collate internal and/or external feedback on the Supply Chain Function to support continuous improvement activities.  

- Promoting and ensuring the use of a fully evaluated and approved supply base.  

- Working with key stakeholders to ensure the speedy resolution of queries.  

- Actively seeking learning and development activities.  

- Consistently demonstrating positive behaviours in line with the company's environmental, sustainability, safety, health, security, quality and ethics standards.

Requirements

This is not a procurement role, the candidate must understand governance around procurement processes.

• Previously have implemented and managed a governance and compliance service for strategic procurements.  

• Experience of governance processes within a procurement or commercial environment

• Experience in delivering business change / continuous improvement programmes.  

• Information security and/or governance knowledge.  

• Multi tasking  

• Effective communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills  

• Able to support a team  

• Organising, planning, and effectively implementing projects and tasks.  

 

Desirable:  

• PCR 2015  

• CIPS Level 4  

 

Red Flags  

- NOT someone who can running procurements. This role is specifically about the Governances that support the procurement.  

- NOT an IT role
