Job description
This contract with our defence client is for a Project Manager for 4 months based in Bristol, occasional travel to Portsmouth/ Hybrid.
The principal duties will include:
• Manage all aspects of a Category A the organisation's Programme from start up to Strategic Outline Case.
• Coordinate Project Specialist approval activities and set priorities to align with project targets.
• Responsible for ensuring the project objectives for schedule, cost, risk and quality are met.
• Manage interdependencies and benefits.
• Responsible for the preparation and presentation of all approval artefacts in conjunction with specialist subject matter experts.
• Instruct, direct, mentor, and check the work of other team members.
• Define and promote formal communication methods and establishing open and consistent communication within the team, with the PMO and management.
• Prepare and present Stakeholder updates as required.
Requirements
• Experience of leading Project Delivery in a DE&S environment.
• UK MOD maritime experience, preferably torpedoes / submarine related.
• Able to craft and own a detailed project plan.
• Ability to deliver programme and project milestones against demanding performance, cost and time constraints
• Comfort in working with minimal daily supervision to deliver key outputs.
• Able to look ahead and anticipate challenges, craft solutions and resolve them, using the team to support.
• Comfortable working in the Cat A project delivery environment, have an understanding of the assurance and scrutiny requirements required and able to work through delivery friction at pace.
• Able to use in place IT systems to deliver effective compliant staff work that stands 2* scrutiny.
• Managing Successful Programs (MSP).
• APMP – Project Management.
• PRINCE 2
• APMP - Management of Risk (MoR)
• They need either APMP or PRINCE 2, MSP would be a nice to have as would be MoR
Top 3 essential criteria:
1. Evidence of Cat A programme or project delivery in DE&S
2. Evidence of leadership role played in delivering time critical milestones
3. Evidence that they have worked in defence project delivery or in industry facing MOD within the last 3 months.
