Job description
This contract with our Defence client is for a Project Engineer for 3 months based in Andover. The role can be mainly remote, with Possibility of visits to construction sites – potentially once a week, sometimes twice, Would get expenses for travelling to sites.
Responsibilities:
• This person needs to oversee rolling this out to teams
• Turn the guidance into a reality.
• Go out onto sites. Work with PMs who may have queries.
• EG certain types of protection, how an explosion might effect a building, how close to a perimeter a building is, what would happen in case of attack…
• Need design/construction experience to be able to do this.
• Work with colleagues writing the guidance.
• Physical security – advise on threats
• Advising the likes of designs building, allow for impact of explosives etc.
• Could be called out to look at a design with PM and tech advisers. Advise what level response
• EG if 25m from a borderline
• Spending time with PMs – talking them through new CMT guidelines.
• Going out, publicising the new guidance, make sure it becomes embedded with the teams. Needs to become BAU.
Leadership and management:
• Promote strong working relationships both within the team and with other teams across the organisation.
• Drive adoption of the new Defence Infrastructure Counter Terrorism Measure guidance by working with delivery colleagues to build understanding and adherence.
• Support the organisation's Technical Services with CTM queries, providing expert CTM knowledge and input.
Stakeholder Management:
• Work with stakeholders in front-line commends, FMC, Defence and across the organisation to ensure the new guidance is adopted and roles and responsibilities are fully understood.
• Work with Front-line commands to support their adoption of the new CTM approach.
• Support wider MPP with CTM guidance for projects, ensuring proportionate application of guidance.
• Using Engineering knowledge/background to roll out training.
• Delivering new guidance created.
• Understand and advise on new guidance.
• There is also potential that the policy guidance can be further simplified in the coming months and this individual would need to work closely with Technical Services to consider other opportunities not yet realised.
Requirements
Top 3 essential requirements.
1. Construction / Design / Civil Engineering qualifications and experience.
2. Application of Counter Terrorism Measures (CTM) as an Engineer within Projects.
3. Understanding of CTM
Other Essential Requirement:
• Sole UK National
• Counter Terrorism Engineering experience.
• Construction Engineering/background
• Project Engineering
• Relevant engineering qualifications
• An engineering SME WITH Project Manager experience
o Can relate, and advise back into the project
• Public sector/Defence background would be very useful
• Construction / Design / Civil Engineering.
• Application of CTM as an Engineer within Projects.
• Stakeholder Management – PM’s / Technical Support.
• Some understanding of CTM
• Able to hit the ground running.
