Muirden Energy has former Grampian Country Foods Chairman Fred Duncan as the major partner. Based at the centre of his farming enterprise at Muirden Farm, Turriff, the business was set up in 2009 to expand on the already impressive renewable portfolio. The business which operates in partnership with farmers and landowners to develop, build and operate renewable energy opportunities has experience of developing over 15MW of operational wind power at Strath of Brydock, Newton of Fortrie and at Mains of Hatton.
With 25 years' experience of working partnerships with farmers from Grampian Country Foods, Muirden Energy looks to build on these relationships and create 'win win' opportunities where farmers and landowners can benefit from the gains on offer from wind energy, without being exposed to all of the risks.
Muirden Energy's aim is to grow relationships to develop, own and operate wind turbine sites throughout Scotland. Offering anything from rent only options to 50:50 partnerships they are looking to share their knowledge and experience of the industry to create viable developments for all those involved. Working closely with local communities and to national guidelines with hopes to make a real difference and help the country meet its renewable energy targets.
