Job description
Our client, one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies is looking to appoint a Principal Fire Engineer to join their team across the UK, preferred locations: Bristol, Epsom, London or Derby.
This opportunity will involve working as part of a national practice of Design professionals delivering fire engineering design solutions to clients across a wide variety of sectors; including Cities & Development, Commercial, Energy, Residential and Transportation.
Responsibilities:
- Work in a range of sectors from residential buildings through to rail transportation or new energy facilities.
- Manage multiple engineering projects from inception through to delivery in support of fire safety standards and codes.
- Support the delivery of project work within time and cost budgets.
- Keep up to date with regulations and legislation.
- Developing fire engineering solutions on projects and ensuring the fire engineering strategy is delivered.
- Assess fire related risks in projects and working collaboratively to mitigate where possible.
- Review and comment on the quality of fire safety related installations.
- Undertake tenders for new work.
- Prepare and review reports, lead fire engineering workshops.
- Develop client relationships with existing clients.
Requirements
- Engineering degree, preferably fire engineering or alternatively a post graduate qualification in fire engineering. Chemical Engineering and Mechanical engineering accepted as well.
- Experience in Fire Engineering.
- Associate membership of the IFE working towards full membership.
- Working towards Chartership.
- Demonstrate a strong record of successfully delivering fire safety projects.
- Experience delivering (as originator and checker) on four of: ADB, BS9999, BS9991, BS9992, DIFs, MOJ and BB100 jobs.
- Mentor for juniors e.g. Grads and Fire Engineers.
- Good commercial awareness.
- Ability to collate information and have a clear and structured approach to report writing.
