Job description
Our client is a major design, engineering and project management consultancy who has been rapidly growing within various sectors. They are currently looking to appoint a number of Process Engineers to join their mechanical, electrical and process (MEP) team. This role is located in Newcastle.
plan to utilise your specialist skills to provide innovative multidisciplinary engineering solutions for their clients in the UK and overseas.
They are looking to appoint a number of process engineers with a variety of experiences. Some examples include:
Ability to lead bids; Project Management experience would be an advantage.
- Flexibility to work at other locations in the UK or overseas for short durations is essential.
- Experience with membrane treatment (U/F, N/F and RO Desalination) technologies.
- Development and implementation of new and emerging technologies and techniques.
- Resource recovery from wastewater.
- Low carbon footprint designs, with a view to improving their clients’ system sustainability.
- DSEAR, HAZOP lead, Functional safety.
- Design or O&M of biosolids plants.
- Digital twins.
Examples of work types:
- Plant and process reviews, assessments, route-cause analysis, apply cutting-edge evaluation techniques.
- Supporting plant operation, optimisation and troubleshooting.
- Feasibility, outline and detailed process design, including mass, heat and energy balances, process flow diagrams, - P&IDs, hydraulic design, design risk assessments, control philosophies, commissioning strategies, cost and programme estimations, plant and equipment specifications, supplier tender evaluation.
- Working with and developing digital design tools such as water quality analysis, unit process sizing, process performance metrics, hydraulic calculations and other automated design tools.
- Technical report writing at all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Liaison with clients within the UK and worldwide.
- Support and/or lead bids, fee proposals or offers of service; development of activity schedules/work plans.
- Understanding of HAZOP, DSEAR, CDM, WIMES, British and European Standards and other statutory, regulatory and non-regulatory provisions and guidance.
- Development of standard and bespoke design solutions over the entire water industry spectrum.
- Meet and exceed quality, programme, budgetary and H&S requirements on projects.
- Preparing technical papers and presentations for conferences, colleagues and clients.
- Undertake research and development projects, manage sampling and analysis programmes as required.
Requirements
The process engineering services they offer to their clients require them to be able to deliver in an agile and future-facing environment. The following are therefore examples of the type of skills and qualities they need you to have.
Skills:
- Educated to degree level with a chemical / process engineering background; working towards (junior) or achieved chartered Membership (senior/principal) of a recognised professional institution.
- Typically, 8+ years’ experience in the water and/or wastewater engineering sector.
- You will be positive and enthusiastic, a confident communicator at all levels and a team player.
- You will encourage and motivate those around you to work to your own high standards of quality and compliance. Using your own and their technical knowledge networks you will both educate and learn from those around you. You will be driven to stretch yourself and work outside of your comfort zone when the need arises.
- Hands-on understanding of water and wastewater treatment technologies; previous design and/or commissioning experience.
- Computer-literate and able to work effectively with the basic Microsoft suite of programmes.
- Ability to provide a customer-focussed service with an understanding of the water sector regulatory framework and strategic business planning.
- Ability to complete assignments on time, within budget and to a high technical standard.
- A well-developed understanding of the design process.
- A willingness to raise your profile and reputation within the water sector and that of the Company.
