Job description

This is an exciting opportunity working for a Tier 1 Contractor within Construction and Building. My client specializes in provided end to end delivery and engineering services on Building projects across the UK. They are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor located in Manchester working on a major development.  

 

Responsibilities:  

- Cost Management: Oversee and manage all financial aspects of assigned projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.  

- Tendering & Contracts: Lead the preparation of tender documents, perform contract negotiations, and manage procurement processes.  

- Valuation & Variations: Prepare accurate valuations, monitor progress claims, and handle variations.  

- Reporting: Generate comprehensive project reports, detailing financial performance, risks, and opportunities.  

- Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors, acting as a primary point of contact.  

- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveyors and support their professional growth.  

- Compliance: Ensure projects comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.  

- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role.  

- Chartered status (e.g., MRICS) or equivalent professional membership is preferred.  

 

Skills:  

- Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).  

- Proficiency in cost management software and tools.  

- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.  

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.  

- Proven leadership and team management experience.
