Job description

Our Client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team for an exciting commercial fit-out project. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the mechanical and electrical (M&E) cost aspects of the project from inception to completion, ensuring that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.  

 

Key Responsibilities:  

Pre-Contract Duties:  

- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tenders for M&E services.  

- Evaluate contractor quotations and negotiate pricing to ensure cost-effective solutions.  

- Participate in the development and review of tender documents, bills of quantities, and procurement strategies.  

- Provide advice on contractual claims and procurement options.  

 

Post-Contract Duties:  

- Manage all aspects of cost control for M&E services throughout the project lifecycle.  

- Prepare and manage detailed cost plans, cash flow forecasts, and valuation reports.  

- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, measure works, and assess variations.  

- Assess and approve contractor and subcontractor payment applications.  

- Evaluate and negotiate variations and change orders, ensuring all are properly documented.  

- Prepare final accounts and ensure timely settlement of all financial aspects with contractors.  

- Collaborate with the project team, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to resolve any issues that may impact cost, quality, or timelines.  

 

Cost Reporting:  

- Prepare and present regular cost reports, forecasts, and financial statements to the project team and client.  

- Advise on any potential risks or cost-saving opportunities.  

 

Contract Management:  

- Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations, industry standards, and legal requirements.  

- Assist in dispute resolution and ensure fair and equitable treatment of all parties.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.  

- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a focus on M&E services in commercial fit-out projects.  

- Strong knowledge of M&E systems and their cost implications.  

- Proficiency in cost estimating software, MS Excel, and other relevant tools.  

- Experience of working on JCT/BESPOKE forms of contracts  

- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.  

- Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement strategies, and cost management principles.  

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.  

- Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is preferred but not essential.
