Job description

This contract with our central government client is for a Data Scientist for 12 Months based in London. The location is flexible, may need to go into an office on occasion. The pay rate to candidate is LTD Rate / UMB Rate £540.00, PAYE Rate £396.62.  

 

Responsibilities:  

Data Scientist will extract, analyse and interpret large amounts of data from a range of sources, using algorithmic, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning and statistical tools. Interpreted the data and present the results using clear and engaging language. Work closely with the business to identify issues and use data to propose solutions for effective decision making. Build algorithms and design experiments to merge, manage, interrogate and extract data to supply tailored reports.

Requirements

1.Experience writing high quality production-grade Python code, using a range of libraries and frameworks: Pandas, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, Tensorflow, PyTorch, OpenCV, Pydantic etc.  

2. Experience with Oracle database and/or PostgreSQL. Being able to understand and write SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from existing and new relational (SQL) data stores is a key requirement.  

3. Experience using AWS cloud technologies and ecosystem including: S3, lambda functions, AWSTextract, CodeCommit, Cloud9, SageMaker etc.  

4. Proven experience in a range of AI and data science fields: data wrangling, data visualisation, natural language processing, computer vision, deep learning, and statistical inference.  

5. Has experience in database interrogation and analysis tools, such as Hadoop, SQL and SAS and programming skills such as R, Python, SQL, C or Java as well as strong database design and coding skills.  

6. Can use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to problems.  

7. Able to test data mining models to select the most appropriate ones for use on a project. Creates clear reports that tell compelling stories.  

8. Assess the effectiveness of data sources and data-gathering techniques and improve data collection methods.  

9. Conduct research from which prototypes and proof of concepts can be developed. Use algorithms to solve problems.  

10. Able to understand the requirements of the business and to deliver under pressure and to tight deadlines with great attention to detail.
